Lucy Barlow

Lucy is renowned for her signature style of stitched
straws. One of the few remaining people having this
skill, her approach is always imaginative and has
created styles copied worldwide.
After studying Fine Art at Goldsmiths, she apprenticed
in Bond St London and then went to Paris to make
hats for the catwalk shows such as Chanel , Karl
Lagerfeld, and Yves St Laurent.
When Lucy opened her shop in Portobello she was quickly approached by department stores such as Harvey Nichols and Barneys New York. After showing at London Fashion.
Week she now sells at selected stores internationally and her hats have been featured in publications such as, Vogue, Harpers and Queen, Tatler, and Elle. Design projects include Costume National, The Royal Shakespeare company, and Comme Des Garcons. Her label Lucy B was formed in 2010 alongside a new menswear label, Mr Lucy.
Although Lucy’s hats are classic and understated it is her arty and quirky style that are her trademark look. Often using random splashes of colour to make each hat unique they are always full of life, fun and individuality.
“I believe a hat should have beauty and personality by itself, but at same time a person should wear the hat, not the hat wear the person. In my heart I always wish a bit of magical joy and love to its journey. I tell each hat as it is packed in the box , go find your new owner and be happy together. ”
